I am hoping you have time and references for this question. We have a kitchen with 3 entrances into it. Are there any resource you can share that address this problem? Thanks! – Jan

Heh, the age-old question – more doorways than wall space so where will everything fit?
This is a challenge, especially in older homes, when the kitchen was really the pass-through to the basement, broiler or cellar, the dining room, stairways, outdoors, the ironing-board, and/or the closet. It was fine when there was only a sink and a range (refrigeration optional), but what do we do in today’s world? Large and small appliances have increased three- and fourfold, and doesn’t begin to include all the extra utensils, dishes, and pots we’ve acquired.
I’d love to say there’s an instant solution I could cover in a single post. Unfortunately, it takes design skill, a bending of guidelines, and/or a possible relocation or removal of one or more doors.
As for resources, try:
Fine Homebuilding: Opening up a small kitchen
Houzz: Tips for design a small kitchen
Gilday Renovations: Example of a complete remodel (interesting to see what they noted and came up with for when budget wasn't tight.)
Good luck!
